We are able to provide a whole or half beef. Buying bulk will save you money, especially if your family likes steaks and roasts as well as ground beef. For us, it is a more efficient way to market and helps us avoid the unbalanced inventory caused when the most sought-after cuts are sold before others. However, buying a portion of a beef is not for everyone and there are several things to consider when deciding whether to purchase a whole or half beef.

Purchasing a whole or half beef is a great way to learn about the various cuts and how to best use them. Some cuts are easier to prepare – a tenderloin is virtually a no-fail cut. But beef heart or a rump roast can be amazing as well! It takes an understanding of how to prepare various cuts, a willingness to try something new, and an appreciation that each cut will have its own unique texture and flavor.

Price

Whole Beef: $6.50/lb. (hanging weight)
Half Beef: $6.75/lb. (hanging weight)

A half of beef has a hanging weight of 250 lbs; this is approximate but around average size for our beef.

Beef in supermarkets can be up to $20 a pound. With Smith Angus, you'll be getting a higher-quality product at roughly $7 a pound. And that's over the entire animal. Not bad for ground beef, top sirloin steaks, brisket, short ribs, rib eye, chuck steak, New York strips, and Tri Tip. When you consider that ground beef alone can sell for more than $4, and steaks for more than $20, it’s not hard to see how much you can save.

In addition to beef, we also have lamb, honey and hay.
